Psychotherapy and Counselling in Cambridge and Longstanton

Lydia Gunjevic

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in Cambridge and Longstanton

My therapeutic practice is informed by the Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge and is supported by regular clinical supervision with experienced psychotherapists and continuing professional and personal development.

I am a fully qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and accredited clinical member of the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA). I adhere to all their codes of ethics and follow the complaints procedure.

Dr. Lydia, Counsellor

I have a PhD in theology and have previously worked as an adjunct lecturer and a writer. My studies of theology also included courses in pastoral care and counselling.

I have extensive experience of working with children, young people and adults who are dealing with psychological and emotional difficulties in Cambridge and abroad. I have a genuine interest in others with multicultural competency. As a therapist now in private practice in Longstanton and at the 8AKP, Therapeutic Consultants in Cambridge, I recently worked also as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with Blue Smile (a charity providing therapy in primary and secondary schools in Cambridgeshire) and as a Student Wellbeing Officer and Student Counsellor at Westfield House, Cambridge. In these roles, I have supported children, young people, and adults with a range of issues, including the following:

eating disorder

self-harm

autism

ADHD

trauma

anxiety and panic attacks

exam stress

child related issues

identity development

bereavement

low mood

addictions

loneliness

spiritual abuse

spirituality

gender and sexual orientation

cultural challenges

bipolar disorder

abuse

narcissistic relationships

miscarriages

unemployment, and many more

Many of these issues are complex and deep-rooted and cannot be resolved in 1 or 2 sessions. I work short term but some issues require longer term commitment.

I draw on different techniques and theories to develop an approach that suits the needs of each client. I use talking therapy as well as suitable arts materials, such as sand trays, paints, clay, therapeutic cards, or whatever a client finds helpful to identify, express and resolve their difficulties and build greater emotional stability, strength and resilience
